VPS Information

Virtual Private Servers (VPS) are one of the best options for website owners who would like more power and more control, but feel that a dedicated server is a bit too much.  With a VPS you purchase an allocation of resources which are not shared across other accounts.  The VPS essentially offers you the same control and functions as a dedicated server and will appear to be identical to a dedicated server when it comes to managing it.

What can i do with my VPS Hosting?

Anything legal! VPS can be used as webservers, game servers, FTP server, mail server, database servers, application servers.  The only type of server it cannot act as is one that brings you breakfast in bed!

More Virtual CPUs?

Having more virtual CPUs allows you to run more operations in parallel, this will decrease the amount of time each task takes to run.  Each of your virtual CPUs is assigned to a physical core of the host machine.

What about IP addresses?

Each VPS comes with a fixed IP address – more can be purchased if you so desire.

What about Upgrades?

This is one of the major advantages a VPS has over a dedicated server, if you choose to upgrade the RAM or amount of processors, this can be done on the fly with no change to the environment – if a disk is being upgraded however then we will require a reboot.  You can also request to change the OS that is running on your VPS!

What about Downtime?

Our SLA of 99.99% means that your VPS is in great hands!

What if i need a little more?

If you think you need a little more power, you should check out the Hybrid Servers option or even a fully Dedicated box.

How does this compare against shared hosting?

With a shared hosting platform, each server can host many more websites, however because all of these share the same hardware and connection, if one of the websites is experiencing a huge traffic spike, it is possible that your website might have less resources at it’s disposal.
